Onyxis built for small business owners who want clarity on their finances. We take privacy seriously — here's a plain-English breakdown of what we collect, how we use it, and how you stay in control.
What we collect
- When you sign up, we collect your email address to create and manage your account.
- When you connect a bank account, we collect your bank transaction data through Plaid. This includes transaction amounts, dates, merchant names, and categories — the data we need to show you accurate profit and expense figures.
- We collect information about recurring charges identified in your transaction history so we can flag subscriptions you may want to cancel or review.
- When you subscribe, Stripe collects your payment details. We never see or store your card number.
How we use it
- To display your financial insights — revenue, expenses, profit — in your Onyx dashboard.
- To send you profit and cost-saving notifications at the frequency you choose.
- To automatically detect recurring subscriptions and surface ones you might want to cut.
- To communicate with you about your account, like password resets or billing updates.
- We do not use your financial data for advertising, and we never sell it to third parties. Ever.
The services we use
- Plaid (plaid.com) — connects your bank accounts securely. Your bank credentials go directly to Plaid; Onyx never sees them.
- Supabase — stores your account information and financial data securely in an encrypted database.
- Stripe — handles all payment processing for your Onyx subscription. Stripe is PCI-compliant and we never touch your card details.
Data sharing
- We don't sell your data. We don't share it with advertisers or data brokers.
- We only share data with the service providers listed above (Plaid, Supabase, Stripe), and only to the extent needed to run Onyx for you.
- If we're ever required to share data by law, we'll notify you where we're legally permitted to do so.
Your rights
- You can request a copy of your data, or ask us to delete your account and all associated data at any time.
- To make a request, email us at vancecompanyteam@gmail.com and we'll take care of it within 7 days.
- You can also disconnect your bank accounts at any time from your dashboard.
